Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital is also proud to perform surgical procedures with our Acuvet CO2 Surgical Laser. Why use laser surgery for pets? First and foremost, the laser significantly decreases post-operative pain by sealing nerve endings as it cuts through tissue. Decreased pain also means that less anesthetic is needed. For some laser surgeries, only a local anesthetic is required. The laser also decreases bleeding and swelling by sealing blood vessels and lymphatic tissue. These benefits potentially decrease the length of a surgical procedure. Finally, the laser decreases the risk of post-operative infection by sterilizing as it cuts through tissue.
Our laser can be used for most surgeries performed at our hospital, including routine spays and neuters, and growth removals, to more involved orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Our goal is to stay on the cutting edge of technology so that we can always provide our clients and their pets with the highest standards of service and care. Our Acuvet CO2 Surgical Laser is one more means of doing this.
